Everything You Need to Know About PDO Thread Lifts

Snapping the best selfie is an art in 2021, and you’ve likely wondered which filters your favorite influencers have used to get that “snatched” Instagram face in their photos. You know the type - flawless dewy skin, plump lips, and lifted eyes that give a seductive stare. To answer your question, it’s likely not a filter at all… but a PDO thread lift! This innovative technique is essentially a non-surgical, mini face lift that gives you an IRL Instagram face wherever you go - no special lighting, angles, or filters required. If you’re looking for a simple technique that enhances all your best features, here’s what you need to know about PDO thread lifts:

What are PDO Thread Lifts?

This treatment consists of using PDO threads, made of polydiaxanone, to enhance and volumize areas of the face and neck. A medical expert will use a fine needle to insert the thread under your skin, which triggers collagen production around the area to lift and firm. While these threads will dissolve under the skin over the next few months, your skin will stay tight and features enhanced until your next treatment.

What Are the Benefits of a Thread Lift?

PDO thread lifts have many benefits for people of all ages. The minimally invasive treatment is a great step for those who wish to reduce wrinkles, lift their look, and improve skin texture without committing to a surgical procedure. Those with mature skin may have threads placed along the neck to reduce sagging as skin becomes smooth and lifted, while threading around the eyes can smooth out crow’s feet.

Meanwhile, a PDO thread lift is also ideal for younger patients. Get lifted brows and Instagram-esque cat eyes by inserting the right threads, or chiseled cheekbones and a defined jawline like the Jenners and Hadids. There are many ways to improve your skin’s overall appearance with PDO thread lifts - from reducing smile lines and opening up hooded eyes to correcting an aging neck. Our medical nurses at Youth Haus will work with you to determine the right thread placements for your desired results.

How Should I Prepare for Treatment?

Similar to Botox and other injections, there are things you’ll want to avoid for about a week prior to getting your PDO thread lift. These include anticoagulants such as aspirin, alcohol, blood thinners, fish oil and multivitamins.

What is the Recovery Time?

Since this is a non-invasive treatment, your recovery time after a PDO thread lift should be very minimal. You may experience a bit of light swelling or bruises for a few days after treatment, but should be completely healed within a week!

Costs and Maintenance

The threads placed underneath your skin during treatment should be fully dissolved within 3-6 months, with exact time varying by individual. While your rejuvenated and firm skin will still be present after these threads are gone, you may need to go into Youth Haus for a maintenance treatment to keep your skin looking “right and tight.” This will be discussed with our nurses at your consultation and/or follow-up appointment.
