Everything You Need to Know about Radiesse

Sure, ageing is a beautiful thing… but you probably don’t want the fine lines to prove it. That’s why you need Radiesse, the anti-ageing filler that’s taking over the beauty world. Commonly used in the hands and lower section of the face, the areas most affected by ageing and loss of elasticity, this type of filler plumps up the skin to smooth wrinkles and add volume, making you look instantly younger and more refreshed.

After the age of 20, our bodies start to slowly decrease the production of collagen - the natural substance that literally holds your skin and tissues together. This causes a loss in moisture and elasticity, resulting in fine lines and sagging skin. That’s no fun, but Radiesse is one of the strongest types of filler around, and here to help you (literally) get it together.

What is Radiesse?

Any skincare enthusiast knows the importance of collagen. More collagen means plumper, more elastic, and wrinkle-free skin… but the natural ageing process and environmental factors make it harder to keep up collagen production and look like your most fresh, youthful self. That’s where Radiesse comes in.

Radiesse is made with the mineral calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA), also known as the substance that teeth and bones are made from. Simply put, this stuff is strong. When injected into the jowls, chin, or hands, this filler adds plumpness and eliminates wrinkles and sagging skin… but more than that, it can also help your body produce more natural collagen. CaHA is made from natural substances already found within the body, which then interact with natural collagen over time and stimulate production. Essentially, the CaHA in Radiesse nudges your body to give you a collagen boost and work to eliminate the skin issues that come with ageing.

What Should I Expect with Radiesse Treatment?

As with nearly any aesthetic treatment, you should go in for an in-person consultation before getting Radiesse. From there, your practitioner will study your face to determine where to place the filler, as well as answer any questions you may have. While it’s typically used to plump up the lower portion of your face, Radiesse may also be used to smooth the skin on your hands. It's not just a running sitcom joke, you really can tell somebody’s age this way!

Pain is minimal, and the procedure is quick enough to do on your lunch break. Just pop in, get injected with liquid from the fountain of youth, and you’re out in less than an hour. Just kidding about that “fountain of youth” bit, kind of. It’s also worth noting that you should tell your practitioner if you have had any issues with allergies in the past, as those with severe allergies or hypersensitives to the components in Radiesse should avoid this type of filler.

How Long Does Radiesse Last?

Ah, the age-old (no pun intended) question - how long will my results last? Radiesse differs from other fillers in that it is currently the only type composed of calcium-based microspheres, which may then stimulate the natural production of collagen. That means that these fillers are not simply “placeholders” for adding volume in the face, but do their part to ensure that your body naturally keeps skin more elastic and smooth. Results from Radiesse injections typically last up to a year or more in most patients.

As for cost, Radiesse treatment typically falls between $700 ahd $800 for each syringe. This varies by individual and is something to talk about with your provider.
